The Happy Core™

Important clarification about scope of practice

The Happy Core™ provides educational, skills-based, and coaching-oriented support focused on emotional regulation, executive functioning, self-awareness, and self-advocacy for children and the adults who support them.

While the founder, Kristin Schleicher, holds academic training in psychology and professional training in clinical hypnotherapy, The Happy Core™ is not offered as psychotherapy, medical treatment, or clinical mental health care.

What this means in practice

The Happy Core™:

  • teaches practical tools and strategies children can use in daily life

  • supports emotional regulation, coping skills, and executive functioning

  • may complement therapy, school support, or medical care

The Happy Core™ does not:

  • diagnose mental health conditions

  • provide psychotherapy or medical treatment

  • replace a licensed mental health provider, physician, or emergency service

  • offer crisis or emergency mental health support

Families are encouraged to seek appropriate professional or emergency care when needed.

About hypnosis and guided techniques

Any guided imagery or hypnotherapy-informed techniques offered through The Happy Core™ are used solely as educational and skill-building tools, adapted for developmental appropriateness, consent, and emotional safety.

These techniques are not intended to treat or cure mental health conditions and are not a substitute for licensed therapeutic care.

Collaboration and complementary care

Many families, schools, and clinicians use The Happy Core™ alongside therapy, counseling, medical care, or school-based services.

We welcome collaboration and believe children benefit most when support systems work together—within clearly defined professional boundaries.

Emergency and crisis support

If you or your child are experiencing a mental health emergency, suicidal thoughts, or immediate risk of harm, please contact local emergency services or a licensed mental health professional right away.

In the United States:

  • Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)

  • Call 911 in an emergency
